Support Student Mental Health Programs
The growing mental health crisis across the country, highlights the need for Santa Clara University to continue our focus on transforming student mental health services.
Building on our comprehensive campus-wide approach to addressing student mental health, Santa Clara will expand our efforts to meet the needs of the increasingly diverse and complex student body. Implementing a thoughtful, strategic and forward-thinking reimagining process is our best tool for responding to the changing needs of our students.
Our systematic and interconnected approach to mental health includes programs to develop life skills; promoting social connectedness; identifying and responding to students at risk; increasing help-seeking behaviors and providing a comprehensive array of mental health and substance abuse resources.
Examples of Program Expansion:
- Basic Needs: while we continue to support the Bronco Pantry and students who are food and housing insecure, our campus data suggests that an increasing number of students report food and housing insecurity. This dimension of student mental health needs additional attention.
- There is a tremendous opportunity to expand peer-related mental health programs. The Wellness Center and Cowell both support peer education programs; however the growing interest among students suggests that we have unmet opportunity in this area.
Support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at SCU
The entire Santa Clara family extends our heart-felt gratitude to the many Broncos among us who, in years past, have labored in their own ways to help create a truly equitable, inclusive and welcoming community. Step by step, your legacy is foundational to our transformation.
Today, as we honor and celebrate our diversity, teams of faculty, staff and students across the entire campus engage in projects guided by our newly-formed Division of Inclusive Excellence. This important work is also reflected every day by the many campus organizations that support, cultivate and harness the diverse experiences of our students.
Making a premium Santa Clara University education affordable is an important aspect of the Jesuit faith tradition, and is paramount to expanding the University’s reach and boosting our national reputation. Together, with the help of our donors supporting scholarship funds, we can help high-achieving students from all backgrounds return and continue to earn their degree regardless of their or their family’s ability to pay.
Your gift to Santa Clara—no matter the size—makes a huge difference in the lives of our students. More than 8,000 students benefit every year from the generosity of our donors.
