The Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education

The Ignatian Center exemplifies and activates the Jesuit, Catholic character of Santa Clara University.
We encourage our students, faculty, staff, and community to embrace Jesuit wisdom by inspiring awareness, thought, reflection, discernment, and action.

From Fellowship to Full Time

As an Ignatian Fellow, Afton Burrell '21 spent the winter quarter of her senior year working with A Step Ahead Foundation. The experience was so fulfilling that she stayed on with the non-profit organization and upon graduation was offered her current position as Marketing Communications Manager.

College Dreams Coming True

When the Ignatian Center launched Thriving Neighbors in 2013, the goal was to help ensure that all children from San Jose's Greater Washington neighborhood finish high school prepared for post-secondary education. 8 years later, that vision is coming to fruition for high school student Anne Sanchez.

Imagining a Path Forward

The Ignatian Center hosted 22 students for the Ignatian Solidarity Network's Virtual Teach-In for Justice "Imagining a Path Forward." With speakers ranging from a death row inmate to the Executive Director of Catholic Charities, students left the conference with a renewed sense of purpose and kinship.

Welcome Incoming President Julie H. Sullivan
The staff of the Division of Mission and Ministry joins the whole SCU community in warmly welcoming Dr. Julie Sullivan as our incoming president. Dr. Sullivan has already demonstrated her deep commitment to Catholic higher education and familiarity with the Jesuit charism.
We wish Dr. Sullivan Godspeed during her transition to SCU. We look forward to working with her to achieve our university's shared vision: to educate citizens and leaders of competence, conscience, and compassion and cultivate knowledge and faith to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world.
