Effective January 1, 2022, per Senate Bill 493, all staff and faculty members are considered Mandatory Reporters of incidents or concerns involving Gender-Based Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct.
- The term Mandatory Reporter or "Responsible Employee" means an employee who has the authority to take action to redress sexual harassment or provide supportive measures to students, or who has the duty to report sexual harassment to an appropriate school official who has that authority.
- Incidents of such nature can be reported by contacting the Interim Director and Title IX Coordinator, Jenna Elliott, at firstname.lastname@example.org or submitting a Request for Support and Assistance Form.
- The University has designated Confidential Resources students can connect with directly to learn more about the university’s investigation options, support resources, and supportive measures without filing a report with the university. Please see our Student Resources page for more information.
SCU recognizes that choosing to report an incident and deciding how to proceed after making the report can be a process that unfolds over time. Reports should be made promptly, but there is no time limitation on reporting. Reports of harassment or discrimination will be investigated in a manner that is prompt, adequate, and impartial. A person does not have to decide whether or not to request disciplinary action at the time a report is made.
If you have witnessed or experienced discrimination, harassment, or sexual violence including sexual assault, you should contact one of the listed persons or offices for assistance in resolving a complaint.
There are confidential and non-confidential reporting options available. Confidential resources include on- and off-campus mental counselors, health service providers, local rape crisis counselors, domestic violence resources, and members of the clergy and chaplains. Confidential means that what you share will not be communicated with anyone else.
