Learn to design and build the world around you.
We rely on civil engineers to build our bridges, dams, highways, transit networks, airports, tunnels, water systems, industrial and commercial buildings, and to protect our environment. As a civil engineer, you will be faced with creating innovative ways to build and improve infrastructure in the face of climate change and increasing urbanization. Santa Clara prepares you to meet this challenge.
Our curriculum combines a unique balance of the practical aspects of engineering with a strong theoretical foundation. The curriculum covers environmental, structural, construction, geotechnical, transportation, and water resources engineering. You'll find small classes complemented by hands-on projects, time in the lab and field trips.
Faculty members are active scholars as well as practicing engineers. You'll go to them for advice and mentorship, and there will be several opportunities to develop camaraderie during regular department events.
For undergraduates, we offer a B.S. degree, as well as a combined B.S./M.S. five-year program. Graduate students can focus on structural engineering, general civil engineering, or construction management in pursuit of their M.S. degree.
